Prolific writer and author Seth Godin said: "Acknowledge to yourself that the factory job is dead... Having a factory job is not a natural state. It wasn’t at the heart of being human until very recently. We’ve been culturally brainwashed”.
A factory job can be any job where you know what you are going to do all day. It's not limited to the standard factory job. There is a reason for his statement behind it's importance. The way the world works has changed, and the internet has rocked its foundation.
Change is a special element of life, and we should implement it into our lives when it is revealed. The number one way to ensure job security in 2011 and 2012 is to obtain awareness of the opportunities of a digital existence.
The internet is a mass of information. There is software that can do many jobs and tasks more efficiently than humans. Your uniqueness and creativity will be more valuable than a degree you can obtain through a university, living within this new era of technology. Your ability to communicate and deliver your creativity will make or break you in the new era.
Emotional labor, is what is going to make you secure in any work, job or company you commit to.
Understanding this concept is imperative, because it may be the only thing distinguishing you from a machine.
Evolution is taking humanity into an era of self-reliability. Technology is the ship that is carrying us to this destination, a destination which is not under the operations of fear. Our current system is constructed with fear as the motivator: fear of keeping a job, fear of finding a job, fear of not having our needs meet at a job, fear of what happens if we quit our job.
The previous era operated out of duty, to keep the world turning. Evolution is taking us into the direction of doing what is only exquisite, and having more time to enrich each others lives now vs. during retirement.
Technology has provided a platform where we have a choice to engage in the things that matter, the things that everyone cares about; the work that allows dreams to physically evolve.
Unemployment proof comes from shedding standards of conventionality. It requires you to not be afraid to utilize your gifts. This is an imperative time to resurrect your purpose and passions. Start by evaluating what the internet really is.
What can you provide to aid the human existence versus what can the world provide for you? Encourage yourself to explore this option of job security, and learn how to create multiple avenues for self-sustainability in this new era.
